A Comparison of Crime Stats for North Vancouver

(December 12, 2013 )

Despite the "positive" stories on the news these days, I thought it might be interesting to see how North Vancouver's crime rate compares to a decade ago.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that while the population of the City of North Vancouver has increased by approximately 4000 people from 2002 to 2011, crime has dropped dramatically! For example, property crimes have gone from 3,615 occurrences in 2002 to 1,997 in 2011. Violent crimes in 2001 numbered 862 and in 2011 dropped to 570.
In the District of North Vancouver, the story seems to be the same! The population in the District of North Vancouver increased to 88,678 in 2011. In 2002, there were 3,872 property crimes and in 2011 it dropped to 2,215. Violent crimes number 785 in 2011 and decreased to 498 in 2011.
So to all those complaining - here's some good news for a change! If you want more information about these stats, or if you decide to move here because of them,  please contact me!
